This is a 1954 Tonka Jewel Tea Co. Truck and Trailer Pressed Steel toy. This marks the first year of production for this toy, as indicated by the straight cut metal at the base of the doors on the cab. The toy measures 24″ long.
The toy is essentially 100% original, with the exception of the repainted fuel tanks behind the cab. It has minor paint scratches and scrapes but is in overall very fine condition for a 74-year-old toy. This is a must have for any vintage Tonka or private label collector and has been a part of my personal collection for many years.
The Jewel Tea Company operated a door-to-door delivery business from 1899 to 1981 delivering groceries and other household items from their catalog. Tonka partnered with companies like Jewel to create private label toys.
